Why I’m Running
I am hoping to get my union more involved with CWA activities, and provide a voice for the Defenders Union of Colorado at these executive meetings.
Experience
Though I have not been apart of a union prior to the Defenders Union of Colorado, I do have previous experience in student government. In law school, I was on the Student Government for 3 years as the Social Justice Chair. During these meetings, we discussed the budget and how to best utilize the money we were given for student activities. We also organized charitable events, including raising money for Hurricane Irma back in 2017.
As the social justice chair, my job was to promote social justice in the law school. I organized a poll to determine what social justice issues were most important to the students, then based off that poll, would organize events to promote those issues. For example, one year I partnered with "Heal Spokane," a charitable organization in the city that provided resources to unhoused people. I was then able to connect the students with this program, and help them get more involved in their community.
